Artistic Karma
TO KEEP SOME POSITIVE VIBES FLOWING,
AND TO SAVE US ALL GOING MAD FROM SELF-ISOLATING,
WE WANT TO GET ALL ARTY FOR A SECOND.
2020 isn’t quite going as smooth as we expected. With the international public health emergency in full swing, the whole team here at Karma Resort want to wish everyone health and a speedy recovery. To keep some positive vibes flowing, and to save us all going mad from self-isolating, we want to get all arty for a second. We want to share with you the most recent additions to our artistic repertoire, a collection of contemporary art.
…creating an almost spiritual atmosphere
where the Karma is essentially palatable.
When designing the interior of our villas we really wanted the Karma style and atmosphere expertly represented, so no detail nor cost was spared. An elegant mix of traditional Thai and modern chic was delicately cultivated, creating an almost spiritual atmosphere where the Karma is essentially palatable. One of the final touches to the Villas, and arguably their pièce de résistance, was the addition of 10 ‘shamanic’ works of art. Each piece, made with acrylic paints & wood, was forged from the creative mind of the artist, Franck Plancoulaine.
Later, he spent time in the Genovesio workshop in Paris attached to the Louvre school…
Franck Plancoulaine has had a long-established career working with some big names. At the end of his studies and at the beginning of his career he found work with Luc Fouchet, the painter decorator of Prince Aga Khan. From there, he travelled the art scenes of London, Geneva, and Paris. Later, he spent time in the Genovesio workshop in Paris attached to the Louvre school and officiated there as a fine art restorer.
For all you art collectors out there, each piece is unique and purchasable.
At the end of the seventies, he found himself having made a deal with Salvador Dali, who gave him his first opportunity to stage an exhibition. First in Paris, then after its success, he toured with the exhibition to Tokyo and Kyoto.
Later, he moved to the South of France where he met a well-known art dealer, Maxim Gruber, with whom he exhibited his art for some years. In an interesting twist of fate, Franck married the daughter of Mr Gruber, Carolina del Sol, an artist and a gallery owner in her own regard. They then together open galleries in France and Spain.
…and began aiding in the decoration of several establishments…
In 2013 Franck andCarolina moved to Thailand alongside their own creations and began aiding in the decoration of several establishments, most notably Karma Sutra, Karma Pasta, and finally Karma Resort. Karma Resort was lucky enough that each Villa received its own unique ‘Plancoluaine’. For all you art collectors out there, each piece is unique and purchasable. Prices begin at 65,000 THB.
